Here are the questions I asked to 8 different people, the people ranged from 13-40 and where both male and female. I made sure I included open questions to get as much detail as possible and closed questions to make them easier to compare. Here are the aswers given

Did you like the track?

Five people gave this answer -yes, it is the sort of music I would usually listen to.

Three people gave this answer-its okay I wouldnt normally listen to it though.

0 -No i wouldnt listen to it again.

• This shows that the song is linked to the mainstream music so could be played on popular music channels and on the radio as a wide range of people would like or wouldnt mind listening to it.

What type of person would like this track?

- I think because the song is soft, its a girly song.

- I think teenagers as it seems quite electronic, not music im used to.
- Definatley the younger generation with the strong bass.
- I think females of any age because it is easy to listen to.
- I think any type of person as the song is easy to listen to with a little kick to it.
- I think the song is relaxing so anyone could like it.
- A girls song because its quite cute.
- Teenagers in general both boys and girls, the lyrics for the girls and bass for the boys.

From this feedback, we have established that it suitbale to a younger audience, which is understandable as the modern 'electronic' background to the lyrics isnt the same as the beatles! Its more modern obviously. So if the song is modern, we need to make the digipack and magazine cover the same. There is mixed feelings between it being a young persons song, or it just being relaxing so this is something we need to think about to get our target audience specific. I personally think as the song is quite relaxing and enjoyable we shouldnt aim the audience to be JUST young people.

Which age range do you think would listen to this track and why?

The main response to this question was teenagers going up to 30's similiar to the question above. This gives us quite a wide range of people to target to using a lot of techniques, maybe having the magazine cover in a 'retro' theme to appeal to the older audience but with a modern twist to appeal to the younger audience as well.

What sort of music do you normally listen to?

- People in the charts, Adele, Chris Brown and Rihanna etc.

- I usually listen to something quite catchy with a good beat like Swedish House mafia.

- I like easy-listening music like Adele and Emilie Sande.

- I usually listen to people like Wiley and  Skepta something with a beat.

- Whetever is in the charts is what I listen to.

- I like something different, like Kid Cudi.

- I like a mix, some of the old stuff with the new stuff to, like The foundations but Emilie Sande as well.

- I listen to anything that puts me in a good mood.

• This shows that our target audience are listening to the mainstream, mtv, KissFM style music which is where we would get our song played as it ties into the same catergory and be the best place to market our song.

Do you watch music videos or do you listen to the song?

• This tells us that the video is just as imporant as the song, some of the participants made a little note saying it depeneded what mood they are in, but the majority watched the video from time to time as well as listen to the song so we know for definate now it is important to cater for both.

Do you think it is important for a star to be in the public eye and why/why not?

- Yes because its boosts their career.

- Not really, because then people are more bothered about that then the music.

- Its should just be about the music.

- A little but some stars nowadays take it too far,

- Definaltly in the public eye so people know who they are, but need to know what they do so they listen to the music.

- Its good for their career but they need to keep the bad stuff private.

- No because then they are not known for their talent.

- no because it has become more about their private life than their professional life.

From this it is clear that the private life isnt important to the public, but it is given to us anyway making us make a judgement without meaning to. Becuase stars are so big, it isnt just going to be the career people are interested in but this shows people are still interested in the music, and would prefer it to be that way but instead are bombarded.

Out of all the popstars out there today, who would you expect to be in this video other than ellie goulding?

-No one has the same voice as ellie goulding so i couldnt say.

- Someone like Emilie Sande who also focuss on their music and are extremely talented.

- If i had to say someone i would say Lana Del Ray, shes a bit different as well.

- Maybe Adele, their voices are different but they both have talent.

- Definaltey Lana del ray, similiar styles.

- Emilie sande has recently become biggger but because her private life isnt in the spotlight.

- I dont know really, she so differnet from everyone else.

- Proberly Lana del ray.

This shows that if we had to compare Ellie goulding to anyone else, it would be Lana Del Ray, and i agree. Their voices, are different from each other but soooo different from everyone else in the charts or anyone at the minute! They bout contrast the ideal, despite both being beautiful they dont wear provocitive clothing. They both sing their own songs so inevitably have their own style which makes them stand out. Lana Del rey has started to conform a little more by wearing femine clothing, but still sticks with her original music.

These results are useful as they show us what our target audience want and what we should do to achieve that.
