Research

I asked some questions from couple of friends to see what would they expect in a normal pop genre video other genre videos and expectations on our stop motion.

What I expect in a music pop music video is usually the artist expressing their feelings and the music video being a lot about relationship or love. The music video having some kind of story to it, and the artist being the main character in the video, while others take notice of them. Specific movement that is attractive and a lot of lip synching. The artists usually express their feelings through the dress code, such as innocence with simple dresses or showing rebellion with more innovative dressing. Also some dance routines which could repeat in the video. But what I expect from a stop motion might be a lot different because it is hard to film it. From a stop motion video I would expect it to be a lot more simple, for example no dance routines. However my expectation still would be to have some synching with the shots such as the shots transitioning with the beats, and even some lip synching but not through out the video. If the music video delivers specific genre expectations then I would definitely enjoy it and watch it again.

I also done some research on the internet with what the audience expects and wants to see in a music video. In a normal pop music video the audience would expect a lot of close up shots of the artist however it is a lot harder to do it with the stop motion so we wont have it as much. Also in other music videos you would expect a lot of shots cutting to different scenes. There is one music video that done stop motion and I was really inspired by which was "Somebody that I used to know" by Gotye which was a stop motion with real life characters, they didn't have a lot of different shot but rather a same background however it still was interesting because it had a story and different shot angles.
