There is relationship between lyrics and visuals
I think that our video ticks this box, the featured character in our video flies with the birds when the chorus kicks in, or the part of the lyrics being in the video itself "try try".
Also the part with the clock where in the lyrics it is called out "for an hour and half" we have the clock shot with the time changing. Most of the video has the master shot of our artist walking through the park because in the song we felt that going with the lyrics and visuals matching would be too much work and might not have been able to finish it in time. Therefore we decided to go with the park walk which could be more interesting with being a bit different but having the same context.
Music video demonstrates genre characteristics
I think that our music video would come into the pop category, because the environment that the video has is bright and happy and it sort of has a story where the artist goes to her dream which is "perfect" to her. The character in the video is dressed rather casually which doesn't really fit into pop genre because pop videos usually have rich and stylish clothes demonstrating different fashions between the artists. We initially thought that our character should have a dress but we decided not to go with it. So instead we tried to make the birds represent the pop genre a bit more by expressing a happy story, and also the funky faces at the start of the sequence.
Relationship between music and visuals
Our video is somewhat related to the visuals, we don't have any of the instruments from the song shown but we do have some of the shots cutting on the beat and the movement of the character according to the beat as well.
Demands of record label
We have some of close up shots of the artist which could help the audience visualize the artist which could possibly influence the record sales. We also had background changing representing how the artist might feel like which could also affect the audience and be supportive to the artist.
References to other videos, books or films
We tried to refer to our song artist Ellie Goulding by making a video simple but having some key things such as the flying with the birds, and the video being generally with a happy atmosphere. We also tried to make it a little bit personal to the viewer so they would share the emotions with the artist.
Notion of looking and
voyeuristic treatment of the female body
Its quite difficult in some shots to see if the artist really sees you but we have some close up shots which the character directly looks at the audience, for example the part where she is standing up from the bench is quite hard to notice if shes looking at us or not, but the part where she is flying you can see her directly looking at us.
